Course information:
For forensic investigators, the “Metadata” subject has been widely overlooked by forensic investigators that focus strictly on cell phone data most commonly. As technology advances, digital science and traditional elements are fully integrated, so we must engage and understand where the most important data elements are located.
The “CSI Effect: has educated jurors as to the importance of DNA, however, Digital Evidence and Metadata are equally as important, if not more important. Metadata is 90% of the “data about the data” from various devices, whereas
surface data holds the 10% of data that law enforcement has been exploring.
The student will learn how to find the metadata to gather information that will provide a deeper contextual foundation in their forensic investigations of devices. Exploring Metadata Forensics will broaden investigator’s knowledge and skills of evidence collection in every case. Metadata is “Device DNA”.
This live interactive two days of (4) hour webinars will provide a step-by-step process on the proper methods to locate and capture Metadata Forensics for lead investigators.
