Byron served with the Dallas Police Department (DPD) for twenty years before retiring in May 2017. He spent the majority of his career working in an undercover capacity targeting the most violent drug dealers in the city. During his time with DPD, Byron served as a primary trainer within the Narcotics Division.
In 2008, Byron and his wife Sabrina founded Professional Law Enforcement Training (PLET) and offered a single Mid-level Narcotic Investigations course. As Byron traveled across the country, offering the course, he quickly realized his passion for training and created several different narcotic-related courses. To meet the high demand for the new courses, Byron hired additional instructors.
Over the next several years, PLET would diversify their course offerings to encompass all areas of law enforcement and hire over twenty instructors to keep up with the demand for training.
Byron serves as the training coordinator for PLET.
