Kevin Barker
began his law enforcement career in Las Vegas, Nevada with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) in 1999. He has served approximately 24 years in various assignments to include patrol, PSU, digital forensics, legal interests, and traffic. He currently serves as the Traffic Intelligence Officer for the agency and was a founding member of the LVMPD Search and Seizure Committee serving as the principal researcher/author of all training materials from 2014-2019.
He has also served as a lobbyist for the Nevada State Legislature and is a subject matter expert in DUI investigations, digital forensics, and legal concepts related to policing. Additionally, he served as the University of Phoenix Criminal Justice Chair and has taught and developed several college courses for different colleges/institutions within the Southern Nevada Area.
Kevin has two bachelor’s Degrees, two master’s Degrees, and a PhD in Public Policy and Administration. Kevin’s published dissertation is the first study to evaluate humility as a leadership trait for police managers with evaluations coming from subordinates rather than superiors.
Kevin’s work has garnered national attention helping other law enforcement agencies revolutionize the way they police ultimately building trust and stronger community relations.
