Course Overview:

Professionalism and ethics have always been a key component in criminal justice training. Practitioners have continually been introduced to core values including duty, honor, loyalty, public order, justice, protection and integrity.

Although there has always been a major emphasis on this topic, it continues to hurt the profession. New technology and social media have only perpetuated the problem.

This course will give students an opportunity to explore and discuss ethics and moral reasoning in the criminal justice system while presenting specific suggestions that may help law enforcement agencies resolve some concerns.

Students will be guided through open lecture and group exercises on past and current events to develop approaches in improving ethical decision making in their individual and professional areas.
