Brian MacDonald
began his law enforcement career with the Wilmington Police Department in Wilmington, NC after approximately five years of active-duty U.S. Army service as a Counterintelligence Special Agent.
Shortly after the attacks on 9/11, Brian was hired by the Naval Criminal Investigative Service and conducted complex investigations primarily involving national security matters and counterintelligence matters. Brian completed advanced covert physical surveillance training was executed surveillance operations worldwide in support of national security investigations.
In 2012, Brian transferred to the Department of Defense Office of Inspector General, Defense Criminal Investigative Service (DCIS) where he conducted investigations ranging from procurement fraud, public corruption, export violations and other financial crimes. Brian retired from DCIS in 2022 as the Program Manager for Undercover Operations.
After retiring from federal service, Brian transitioned to the private sector as a Crypto Asset Project Manager and developed advanced cryptocurrency obfuscation techniques for sensitive U.S. government clients. He also was the Program Manager for Federal Law Enforcement Training at a private company that delivered specialized and customized training courses for law enforcement customers.
Brian holds a Master's degree in Criminal Justice from Boston University, a Blockchain Essentials Certificate from Cornell University, and has completed extensive specialized training in cryptocurrency and digital asset investigations. He has also directed hundreds of criminal investigations ranging from espionage, money laundering, public corruption, procurement, export violations and other financial crimes
