Brandon Hernandez has been with the Garland Police Department since 1998 and is currently assigned to the Auto Theft. Brandon has also been assigned to the Narcotics Unit in an undercover capacity. His duties in Narcotics include planning and participating in CI/UC buys, writing search warrants, conducting surveillance, preparing cases, and training. 

Brandon joined the Garland SWAT Team in 2003 and is currently a Team Leader on the Assault Team. His duties as a Team Leader are planning/participating in SWAT operations, teaching SWAT tactics, planning SWAT practices, and teaching other team members to be leaders. 

During his time with the Garland Police Department, Brandon has participated in numerous real-world SWAT callouts, high risk warrants and SWAT competitions as well as undercover and confidential informant buy operations. 

Brandon has also been involved in two officer involved shootings. One of the incidents occurred while off-duty at church with his family present. The other shooting occurred when Islamic terrorists attacked the United States.

Brandon has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminal Justice and a Master Peace Officer Certification. Additionally, he has attended and taught numerous Tactical Police training courses for TTPOA, TMPA, T.I.G.E.R. Valley, Lead Faucet Tactical, Garland P.D., Dallas P.D., and TNOA. He holds several instructor certifications as well as being a certified TCLEOSE instructor.
